Rays edge Red Sox by 1

The Tampa Bay Rays edged the Boston Red Sox yesterday at Tropicana Field with the Rays securing the victory 6 to 5. It was a great baseball game that fans with Rays tickets will remember for quite some time. There’s not much better than a baseball game so get your MLB tickets before its too late.

Rays pitcher Randy Choate (5.48 ERA) got the win, while Ramon Ramirez (4.81 ERA) took the loss for the Red Sox. Matt Garza went 3 innings for the Rays, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Rays was Andy Sonnanstine (3.71), Dan Wheeler (3.16), Grant Balfour (2.06), and Joaquin Benoit (0.73). The Red Sox’s starter Daisuke Matsuzaka went 5 innings, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Dustin Richardson (2.45), and Daniel Bard (1.99) also pitched for the Red Sox. With the win, Choate’s record goes to 2-2, while Ramirez drops to 0-2. Rafael Soriano earned the save for the Rays, bringing his saves up to 22.

In addition to the 6 runs, the Rays put up 10 hits and committed no errors. Carl Crawford led the Rays in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Sean Rodriguez’s 2 hits. Willy Aybar had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. Eric Patterson had the most hits for the Red Sox (3), followed by Bill Hall (2). Adrian Beltre could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Red Sox got 5 runs, 10 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Laz Diaz, James Hoye, Todd Tichenor and John Hirschbeck. There were 28,528 Rays ticket holders in attendance at Tropicana Field.
